How DAYATECH Works.

Every DAYATECH work light ships with four engineered systems. Each one is verifiable. Each one is documented. Below: how they work, what they measure, and why they matter on a job site.

UNIPOWER

UniPower™ · Universal Battery Compatibility

One Light, Any Battery. A patented mechanical-electrical adapter system that runs one DAYATECH work light on the four premium cordless battery platforms without any external adapter, modification, or voltage conversion.

How It Works

  1. Mechanical Interface Layer — A universal dovetail slot with spring-loaded retention clips accepts the physical form factors of DeWalt (20V MAX), Milwaukee (M18), Makita (LXT 18V), and Bosch (18V CORE) packs. No tool, no adapter sleeve.
  2. Smart Contact Bridge — A dual-contact brass terminal assembly auto-aligns with each brand's positive/negative terminal spacing. Spring tension guarantees contact pressure above 0.8N, beyond the 0.5N minimum for stable current delivery at full load.
  3. Voltage Normalization Circuit — Accepts nominal input between 18V and 21.6V. An active regulator converts all inputs to a stable 18.5V internal rail, so battery choice never affects light output or runtime curves.

VOLTSHIELD

VoltShield™ · Low-Voltage Battery Protection

Smart Cut-off. Zero Damage. An integrated low-voltage detection and disconnect circuit that shuts the light off before a Li-ion pack drains below its safe discharge threshold.

How It Works

  1. Continuous Voltage Monitoring — A low-power comparator IC samples battery voltage every 500ms across the full runtime. Sampling draws under 50μA, negligible compared to LED load current.
  2. Three-Stage Warning + Cut-off — At 15.5V (≈3.1V/cell) the indicator turns amber. At 14.4V (≈2.9V/cell) output auto-dims 50%. At 13.2V (≈2.65V/cell) the MOSFET disconnects the pack completely.
  3. Load Disconnect MOSFET — A physical high-current transistor, not a software fuse. Once triggered, the circuit opens — guaranteed disconnect even under failure conditions.

Why It Matters

A DeWalt 20V MAX 5.0Ah battery costs $139. Run a standard work light to full drain five times and that battery is toast. VoltShield™ doesn't extend runtime; it extends battery life. Your batteries survive hundreds of cycles instead of dozens, because the light knows when to stop.

TRUEBEAM

TrueBeam™ · Flicker-Free, Anti-Glare, High-CRI Light

Real Light. Real Color. Zero Flicker. A constant-current LED driver paired with high-CRI chips and precision optics — certified against IEEE 1789 flicker standards and LM-79 photometric test reports.

How It Works

  1. Constant-Current (CC) Driver — A linear current regulator holds output current at a precise target (±2% stability) and dims by smoothly reducing that current. Zero PWM. Modulation depth under 5% at all dim levels, compliant with IEEE 1789 “no observable effect” category.
  2. High-CRI LED Selection — LEDs binned at CRI 80+, with R9 values above 50 for accurate red-tone rendering. Cheap lights use CRI 65–70, which distorts skin tones, wire color codes, and paint finishes.
  3. Optical Diffusion Layer — A frosted polycarbonate lens combined with a micro-prism diffuser spreads point-source LED light into a wide, even beam (120° flood) with glare index below UGR 19.

STEADYLUME

SteadyLume™ · 10,000-Hour Lumen Maintenance

Hour 1 or Hour 10,000. Same Light. An integrated thermal management and LED-lifetime architecture that preserves at least 90% of initial light output after 10,000 hours of use.

How It Works

  1. Aluminum Heat Sink + Thermal Pad — Each LED module sits on a 1.5mm thermal interface pad mounted to a machined aluminum heat sink rated 15W/°C. Junction temperature stays below 85°C even at max output for 2.5 hours continuous.
  2. Current De-rating at Full Power — DAYATECH drivers run LEDs at 80% of rated current. Trading 5% peak brightness for 4× longer useful life.
  3. LM-80 Binned LEDs — Only LEDs certified to LM-80 testing standards, which requires documented lumen maintenance curves over 6,000+ hours. Combined with 2,000-hour burn-in sample testing, DAYATECH projects L90 at 10,000 hours.

How It Works

UniPower™ is a dual-contact battery interface engineered around the common 18V–20V Li-ion pack architecture shared by the four premium professional platforms. The system has three layers.

Mechanical Interface Layer. A universal dovetail slot geometry with spring-loaded retention clips accepts the physical form factors of DeWalt 20V MAX, Milwaukee M18, Makita LXT 18V, and Bosch 18V packs. No tool, no adapter, no plastic sleeve.

Smart Contact Bridge. A dual-contact brass terminal assembly auto-aligns with each brand's positive and negative terminal spacing. Internal spring tension guarantees contact pressure above 0.8N — well beyond the 0.5N minimum required for stable current delivery at full load.

Voltage Normalization Circuit. An active regulator accepts any nominal input between 18V and 21.6V (fully charged 20V MAX packs) and converts it to a stable 18.5V internal rail. Battery choice never affects light output or runtime curves.
